Here’s a poem I wrote recently that gives a little snapshot of what I’ve been thinking lately, particular in regards to mental health and the world we live in.
The thoughts are always flowing The words are hard to catch Trying to make sense of the world around Trying to do any thing, any thing at all This world is heartbreaking This world is cruel Chaos is all around Chaos is all within I want to have faith I want to breathe free But often times it’s difficult But often times I just don’t know Mental health isn’t a priority Mental health is just buzz Stigma is alive Stigma is strong Speaking is hard Speaking is necessary Conversations can be powerful Conversations can be healing Right now, nothing is there Right now, nothing is actually happening We’re all just moving a long We’re all just here or there Where is the compassion Where is the humanity They say no time for action They say no time for sleep But we have time for mocking But we have time for shame We’re good at pointing fingers We’re good at being victims But are we good at reflecting But are we good at taking ownership Sometimes we need to do the uncomfortable Sometimes we need to change our ways Ignorance to the right Ignorance to the left No body wants to listen No body wants to understand Everyone wants to be seen Everyone wants to be heard Everybody is right Everybody is wrong In the end, does it really matter In the end, did you love your neighbor The thoughts are always flowing The words are hard to catch
